The Victron Cyrix-Li-Charge 12/24-230 is a heavy-duty intelligent battery combiner specifically designed for Victron LiFePO4 battery systems. It acts as a voltage-sensitive relay (VSR) controlled by the Victron VE.Bus BMS, allowing battery chargers to be safely connected and disconnected from lithium battery banks when required. Its primary role is to protect lithium batteries against cell over-voltage, under-voltage, and temperature-related charging faults while ensuring efficient charging operation.

Unlike a standard battery combiner, the Cyrix-Li-Charge is designed specifically for charger control rather than alternator charging. It automatically connects a charger when the BMS permits charging and disconnects immediately when the BMS detects unsafe battery conditions. This makes it an essential component in many Victron lithium battery installations that use chargers not directly controlled by the BMS.

How It Works

Intelligent Charger Control

The Cyrix-Li-Charge connects a charger after a 3-second delay when:

The VE.Bus BMS charge-disconnect output is active.
Charger voltage exceeds approximately 13.0V (12V system).
Battery voltage exceeds 2V.

If the BMS detects a lithium battery protection event, the Cyrix disconnects the charger immediately to prevent battery damage.
